I took my daughter and her friend to an amusement park a few weekends ago. Her friend hadn’t been to an amusement park before so I saw the day unfold through fresh eyes. What was ordinary to us was something new and unfamiliar to her, and maybe that’s why the bumper cars stood out like they did.
I watched people as they rode in them, laughing, smiling, craning forward in their seats. Though you can’t really build up much momentum in bumper cars, I saw (and felt) a few times when cars really collided, all of them ending in smiles and laughter.
If we lived life like we were riding along in bumper cars, how many hurt feelings would be saved, relationships altered? What if we were able to ride the bumps with a laugh and a smile instead of a groan and words we later regret?
God’s grace, so freely given, is also available to us to give to others. His loving arms are always open to any who will receive Him, His grace limitless and forever. What if we recovered from the collisions as easily as God does?
