“Follow daddy.”
That was me prompting the middle two as we walked into a full sanctuary last Sunday. But it applies to so much these days and for that I am profoundly grateful.
Ray was a non-believer when we married. At the time it felt like no big deal. Then babies and challenges came that made God more present in my life, and suddenly his lack of belief left a hole in our family. During the altar call at Sunday services I daydreamed about Ray going forward, accepting Christ, getting baptized. I daydreamed for years, wondered, hoped, doubted. I thought I knew how it would play out.
But God. He grabbed ahold of Ray and made him realize he couldn’t be the man, father or husband he was called to be without God in his life.
On November 8, 2015 Ray was baptized at our church. I could hardly breathe I was crying so hard.
The following year he baptized our son.
Now the three of us share communion on Sunday. And that just never, never gets old.
